What Causes Indentations In Skin

has come Janne Teller's book, "Nothing," published by Seix Barral and its emergence in the English market, will cause the same controversy that has arisen wherever edited. In France there were bookstores refused to sell it in Norway and Denmark banned in schools, in Germany there were parents who did not allow reading the book, although the teachers had included in the reading list ... And all for what? What does this book of 158 pages so provocative? The Pierre Anthon of Danish writer is a transcript of Cosimo starving Piovasco of Rondo, the rebel hero of The Baron in the Trees, who one day as a result of any punishment imposed by his father, decides to climb a tree and it never fades. Unlike the character in Italo Calvino, who sees life and spend part of it on the tree, Pierre Anthon decides to follow the school of Simon Stylites and spends day and night shouting from the plum tree that has been perched, nothing matter, which makes much you know and so do not do anything worth ... Their nihilism is taken as a derogatory mantra against their peers. They turn against the idea that the type of plum force them to accept that they live for nothing and for nothing, so they decide to show is wrong.
So far, no objections: interesting approach choral history, social reality notes mixed with some fairy-tale atmosphere of the Nordic ... But if this were all, then nothing would not have gotten so angry. Why do you get? Mainly because in this kind of collective search for meaning undertaken teens find that nothing is as it seems: violence, brutality, insensitivity, stubbornness of heart, lack of empathy, they take over preventing any compassionate gesture. They do not understand, because they feel confused and misguided. For me, here is the great defect of this book, not what counts, but what stops counting. And so, when the reader closes the book and wondered about the meaning of what you've read and what it does, you will find that indeed is how the challenge works, and spread bigotry, is how individual loses consciousness at the convention of the flock, but what everything is? Where is that teens can learn the meaning? Simply not there. And his reading, therefore, yields only despair, as if life were a great tragedy impossible to stop because it is in the hands of a nefarious educational planning, an ungodly society and unbalanced and a complete lack of sense of life. The absence of meaning precisely, achieve this novel to insignificance. Runs out of touch the light side and could have glimpsed existential character. Too bad! Really, a shame.
